Where Our Name Comes From

Koa is a species of tree, native to the Hawaiian islands.
The wood represents strength & courage and is a durable hardwood, engineered by nature.
As woodworkers with decades in the trade, Koa Komponents was established to manufacture
reliable & cost-effective cabinet component parts to create high quality cabinetry.

Our Process

Every project we work on is unique. The process to deliver custom woodworking of the highest quality stays the same. Follow along for insight into this process.

Design

The first step in every project is the design phase. Whether we start from architectural plans or hand-drawn sketches, we create CAD (computer-aided design) drawings of every cabinet in every room. During this step, all the details are added to the drawings including design specifications, material selections, appliance specs, lighting, steel cabinet supports, and any other special requirements for the job. Our component clients provide us with their field-measurements during this step, to ensure accuracy before machining. For our own custom projects, we obtain field-measurements so the job goes as smoothly as possible.

Materials

We source materials from top tier suppliers. Through our connections, materials ranging from hardwoods, panel products, laminates, and solid surfaces can be used to create your desired look. Popular products include Cleaf, Shinnoki, & Egger.

CNC Machining

Once the material has arrived and the design is set, our machinery does the majority of the cutting. Balancing the project between CNC Machining & hand-cutting, allows us to get the accuracy & customization our projects require.

Edgebanding

After milling, panel products move on to the Edge Bander. The process of edgebanding gives the product a quality edge, while also protecting the material. This increases product durability and creates a solid, refined appearance.

Assembly

Clients choose different levels of service, so once all parts have been cut & edgebanded, they will either be flat-packed for pick-up, or assembled in the shop.

Finishing

While pre-finished laminates are popular for their textures & durability, many choose  traditional cabinet fronts with custom finishes. Our spray booth allows for this customization, where we perform a multi-step finishing process.

Installation

The last step toward finalizing your vision is installation. We have highly skilled installers who are detail-oriented to ensure an end result that will stand the test of time.
